Tip: Avoid a freshwater fish disaster

Don't fill the tank and then drop the fish in immediately when starting a freshwater fish tank. Buy the tank at least a day or two before you buy the fish. Fill the tank with tap water and then let it sit for a day or two to allow the chlorine from the water to evaporate. Turn on the filters for an hour or two and then slowly introduce your fish to the water. Otherwise, you will probably end up with dead fish.
